There is no greater testament to the durability of ones product, than dropping it off the back of a trailer at 110 Km/h.
On our way to the Rutabaga Consumer Show in Madison, Wisconsin, we were having a very peaceful drive from Lakefield, Ontario to the show, when the weather turned a bit nasty. Out of no where, the temperature dropped and there was a fresh coat of black ice on the roads, along with freezing rain.
Unbeknownst to us, there was an accumulation of ice on our ropes that we tied the canoes and kayaks to the trailer with. They were tight and were double checked to make are all the knots were corrects and would last the trip.
However, this ice and the roads being a little bumpy, caused one of the kayaks to slip itself through the rope. This was a shock to both myself and Pat and I immediately ran out to try and find it. Trouble is, I did not have a jacket on and almost immediately froze.
Pat went back further to find the kayak and so he did. I was amazed to see that after dropping it off the trailer, there was no car accident and the kayak only had a minor scratch on it. My expectation was it would have been in 500 pieces, but nothing was broken. Nothing but one scratch where it landed. Way beyond what I expected. That is how tough our boats are.
When you buy a Paluski Canoe or Kayak, it has a lifetime warranty on it. After this, I have complete confidence in our products. They will last forever.
